Fighter Profile: Movsar Evloev

Movsar Evloev: undefeated UFC featherweight contender — 20-0 record and title shot.

Background

Russian featherweight from Ingushetia, a former M-1 Global featherweight champion and a combat sambo specialist. He is undefeated at 20-0 and is the leading contender for the UFC featherweight title.

Career timeline

  • Joined the UFC in 2019 and won every bout in the promotion, reaching ten straight UFC victories.
  • Beat Lerone Murphy by majority decision (48-46, 48-46, 47-47) at UFC London on 21 March 2026 at The O2 — a controversial fight in which referee Marc Goddard deducted a point from Evloev in round four for a second accidental groin kick.
  • That win handed Murphy the first loss of his career and made Evloev the top contender at 145lb.
  • Alexander Volkanovski has said he expects the title fight to happen in late 2026.

Fight craft

Evloev is a grinding wrestler-grappler who wins by volume of position rather than damage: relentless takedown entries, heavy top control, and enough striking to keep opponents honest. He very rarely finishes fights, and he very rarely loses rounds. The London fight was the sharpest illustration of both sides — he did enough to take a majority decision despite a point deduction, but the result was widely disputed, which is the recurring criticism of a style that banks narrow rounds rather than settling arguments.

In the modern MMA landscape

Our wider MMA analysis frames the Evloev–Murphy eliminator as a bout that “will dictate” the next featherweight challenge. It has been fought: Evloev won a contentious majority decision on 21 March 2026 and is now first in line for Volkanovski.
