Background

American heavyweight, the younger brother of former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and a former college football player at Arizona. He won The Ultimate Fighter 30 and compiled a 4-2 record inside the UFC before being released in 2026.

Career timeline

Won The Ultimate Fighter 30 in August 2022, knocking out Zac Pauga in the final — making the Usmans the first pair of brothers to win the show.
Started his UFC tenure 3-0 before back-to-back losses to Thomas Petersen and Mick Parkin.
Tested positive for testosterone ahead of a scheduled bout with Valter Walker at UFC Rio in October 2025, and also admitted earlier use of the banned peptide BPC-157.
Accepted a 30-month suspension from Combat Sports Anti-Doping in January 2026 — the standard 24 months for testosterone plus six months added for attempting to deceive CSAD with a false explanation. The ban runs from 9 October 2025 to 9 April 2028.
Was released by the UFC as the suspension began.

Usman is a big, explosive athlete whose best moments have come from single-shot power in the opening round, a legacy of the athleticism that took him to Division I football rather than a deep martial-arts base. His UFC losses pointed to the gap: against opponents who could weather the early pressure and grapple, his output dropped and his defensive wrestling was found wanting.
