Background
New Zealand light heavyweight nicknamed “Black Jag”, fighting out of City Kickboxing in Auckland. Before MMA he compiled a 19-2 professional kickboxing record with 12 knockouts, winning King in the Ring tournament titles at heavyweight (2017) and cruiserweight (2019). His MMA record is 15-1 and he is the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion.
Career timeline
- Won the 2017 King in the Ring 100kg tournament by knocking out all three opponents in a single night at Auckland’s ASB Stadium, and added the cruiserweight tournament title in 2019.
- Entered the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series and lost his promotional debut in 2021 — the only loss of his MMA career.
- Built a long unbeaten run through the light heavyweight rankings across 2022–2025.
